Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Infrastructure includes levee-protected rivers, logistics-supporting roads and railways, essential utilities like water and electricity, and disaster prevention facilities that safeguard lives and property. Students build a strong foundation in civil engineering, focusing on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of essential systems. Furthermore, the program nurtures engineers equipped with the knowledge and skills to prioritize environmental conservation and promote coexistence, addressing the needs of modern society.
Education and Research Areas
-
Design, Construction, and Maintenance of Structures
Students learn structural mechanics, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering, which are essential for the design and construction of structures. They also acquire maintenance techniques useful for preserving aging infrastructure facilities.
-
Urban Planning and Disaster Prevention
Students study urban and regional planning, transportation planning, disaster prevention and mitigation for natural hazards, and landscape planning. They gain the skills to create urban spaces that are safe, comfortable, and provide a sense of tranquility.
-
Environmental Conservation and Restoration
Students acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills, including flood control measures for water supply and rivers, environmental restoration, rehabilitation, and creation technologies to realize an environmentally sustainable society, as well as renewable energy.
