Dedicated to building residences and regions in a symbiotic relationship with the environment, the Faculty of Environmental Studies consists of two departments: the Department of Environmental Design and the Department of Global Environment Studies. This faculty aims to foster personnel with the breadth of vision and technical ability to construct a sound material - cycle society in harmony with its environment.
This department is organized into four fields: Design, Planning, and Housing, and deals with the provision and maintenance of architecture that considers the environment. Areas of study include Building Design, dealing with planning, design and administration, and Welfare Housing/Interior Planning, dealing with the creation of barrier-free model housing for an aging society as well as other aspects of interior planning.
This department is organized into three fields: Environmental Information, Environmental Symbiosis, and Geoscience, and deals with the Earth, the environmental information related to living creature, and environmental symbiosis. Students in this department can acquire and use earth observation information about the biosphere, the atmosphere, the hydrosphere and the geosphere. They can also learn environmental symbiosis,environmental preservation and regeneration, disaster prevention and reduction, and use cutting-edge technology for collecting and analyzing data on the Earth. Furthermore, based on those findings, they can consider the best measures against environmental and disaster problems.
